Fairly recent rains in the foothills had turned the ground cover an unusually saturated green while the desert floor maintained its more common arid appearance. This dichotomy is what intrigued me. It's a fleeting effect that would no doubt be lost after a few more days of high temps. That's why I chose to capture it while I had the chance.
